Mandar masjid fire bhalda na rab kasha na rab makke;
Na rab milda naal Samadhi baith baith ke yogi thakke. Na rab sovat jaagat labhbhe kar kar kai jaagre akke; Buttan vichchon rab nahin milda sajde kar kar ghas gye matthe. Rab tan lokon ohna payai guru jinhan ne paya poora; Kahe avtar gur bakhshish sadka pooran ho geya banda oora. |

O' man, you are searching for God in temples and mosques, but He cannot be found just by visiting Kashi or Mecca;
God cannot be realized through silent meditation, many ascetics have tried in vain. God cannot be realized by sleeping, or keeping awake many got fed up offering prayers over night; God cannot be found from the idols, many got exhausted bowing their heads. O' men, God was realized only by those who found the perfect True Master; Avtar says, the imperfect man becomes perfect with the benevolence of the True Master. |
Meaning
Man has limited God to some holy places or rituals, but He can be known only through True Master. Man is searching for God in temples and mosques, but He cannot be found just by visiting places like Kaashi or Macca. God cannot be realized through silent meditation, many ascetics have tried in vain. God cannot be realized by sleeping, or keeping awake many got fed up offering prayers over night. God is not there in idols; many got exhausted bowing their heads. God is realized by those who find the perfect True Master. Baba Avtar Singh ji says, the imperfect man becomes perfect with the benevolence of the True Master.
